What is Glaucoma ?
Glaucoma is a progressive disease that damages the optic nerve, often due to increased intraocular pressure (IOP). It is a leading cause of irreversible blindness and can occur without noticeable symptoms in the early stages

Types of Glaucoma We Treat

Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma (POAG) – The most common type, with slow progression and no early warning signs.
Angle-Closure Glaucoma – A sudden increase in eye pressure, which is a medical emergency.
Normal-Tension Glaucoma – Damage to the optic nerve despite normal eye pressure.
Congenital Glaucoma – A rare, inherited condition present from birth.
Secondary Glaucoma – Caused by trauma, inflammation, diabetes, or steroid use.

Common Symptoms of Glaucoma

Gradual loss of peripheral (side) vision
• Blurred vision or difficulty seeing in low light
Eye pain, redness, or headaches (in angle-closure glaucoma)
Halos around lights
Tunnel vision in advanced stages

Our Glaucoma Diagnostic Services

Applanation Tonometry – Measures intraocular pressure (IOP).
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) for Glaucoma – High-resolution imaging of the optic nerve and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL).
Visual Field Testing (Perimetry) – Assesses peripheral vision loss with Humphrey Visual Field Analysis – The gold standard for detecting visual field defects caused by glaucoma.
Pachymetry – Measures corneal thickness, a key factor in IOP assessment.
Gonioscopy – Evaluates the drainage angle to classify glaucoma type.

Our Glaucoma Treatments
We offer tailored treatment plans based on the severity and progression of the disease.

Medical Management
Prescription Eye Drops – First-line treatment to lower intraocular pressure.
Oral Medications – Used in cases where eye drops alone are not effective.

Laser Treatments
Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) – A safe, effective laser treatment to enhance drainage and lower eye pressure.
Laser Peripheral Iridotomy (LPI) – Prevents and treats angle-closure glaucoma by creating a small opening in the iris.
Cyclophotocoagulation (CPC) – Used in advanced cases to reduce fluid production.

Surgical Procedures for Glaucoma
For cases where medications and laser therapy are insufficient, we offer:
Trabeculectomy – A traditional filtration surgery to create a new drainage pathway.
Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) – Faster recovery, fewer complications.
Glaucoma Drainage Implants (Tubes/Stents) – For advanced or refractory glaucoma cases.
